Squeaky floors
When the air in the room becomes extremely dry, your floor loses moisture and contracts. Conversely, when humidity rises, your floor absorbs moisture and expands. Making sure that your air conditioning system does not in-fluctuate dramatically will keep the right comfortable humidity level for your floor. Prolonged cycles of shrinking and swelling of your hardwood floor may result in squeaking floorboards. To correct this problem, apply liquid wax, powdered soap, talcum powder or powdered graphite between the offending floorboards that are rubbing together. If that doesn’t stop the squeaking, drive two-inch finishing nails through pilot holes on both edges of the boards and cover the holes with matching specie colour wood filler.
Storage
It is always advised to store the flooring in the area that it is going to be installed, At the approximate temperature that the area will stay at after the floor has been fitted, which allows for perfect acclimatization conditions. Do not store in damp areas, overheated areas or next to windows in direct sunlight.

It is always recommended to have your floor installed with a professional wood floor fitter, however, if taking the task in hand your self, we recommend the following tools: a Hammer – nail punch – tape measure – circular saw – table saw or jigsaw – porter nailer with mallet – power nails – lifting bar – drill (for pipes) chalk line and pencils… (Always check details for tool requirements first)
